Speed Landscape Drawing and Painting

Speed Landscape Drawing and Painting

Saturday 25 January
South Boston Waterfront - 1pm - 2 Hours
Teymura Landsverk
The focus of this two-hour structured session is "speed" and "form", i.e. capturing the essence of a subject. You will be guided to complete some "warm-up" colour and drawing exercises and prepared for doing ink and watercolour-based painting in the session. You will learn how to quickly sketch and capture multiple subjects in the garden with ink and wash technique. You will be advised to keep things rather loose and time your drawing/painting.
You will have a chance to meet and greet like-minded people, choose your own subjects in the garden and be guided to complete the exercises, and artwork and have some takeaway homework with the learned technique. All levels and experiences are welcome.

REVIEWS
Tempura Landsverk met the class at 1 pm and immediately asked me what my goals were for the class. As I was the only person who showed, probably due to the chill in the air, I felt honored to get such individualized instruction. She provided me with examples of various techniques to show contour, depth and perspective. It was a fun 2 hours and I hope to take another class with Teymura.

Hi!
I'm Teymura, a newer host. I've been doing art all my life; when I was younger mainly anime and comics, then later on fine art. I have a degree in Painting and Printmaking and art history minor from VCUarts. My favorite medium is oil paint, seconded by watercolor and inks as they're expressive. I 've assisted and lead classes at a local Cambridge studio, and have practice in facilitating critiques and demos. In my work I like to explore women's and animal rights as they make up our cultures in many ways, but I also enjoy painting:

1) Landscapes because there's so many elements you choose to use, add, and change.
2) Animal Portraits, as I love animals!
3) Still Lives as they are a good exercise in concentration and in understanding how to go about drawing (especially for people who are new to art-making); plus the chosen objects can be just plain fun!

Looking forward to working with you!

Title or Location: Daffs and Forsythia
This spring I was looking around the yard for whatever was blooming for a still life. The choice was forsythia and a bit of PJM rhododendron. I set it up on the floor beneath a window for the light. As with other floral still lifes I?ve painted, there came a moment when I thought ?Enough with the flowers! Too many petals!? But once through the bottleneck, the effort is usually worth it. Acrylic on paper4 years living with Long COVID, almost died twice. Got small vessel disease and Dysautonomia, along with dissections in my iliac artery. Lots of pain. Painting is the best medicine for all of this, I do feel like Frida.Pain, pleasure, and death are no more than a process for existence. The revolutionary struggle in this process is a doorway open to intelligence. I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes t

I originally drew George for Chris a few years ago but after he passed more recently, Chris came to me with a photograph which he said meant a lot to him and asked if I could do a drawing of it. It was a bit of a challenge but I did the best I could with it and when I sent an image of my drawing to Chris he first just replied ?there are no words? but he then came back later with:?wish you had known him Alan and in a strange way it?s like you did.
